![]() ![]() On Christmas day we enjoyed my signature sangria in the sunshine while playing backyard cricket. I love enjoying a refreshing cocktail on a warm Summer’s day. ![]() I have a bottle of pink gin in my liquor cabinet waiting to make its debut, perfect for this New Year’s Eve inspired cocktail. If you don’t know what flavours you enjoy you can find sample packs to try first. Gin pairs well with rich, fruity flavours like citrus, rosemary, blood orange, and mint. I find it super refreshing when served with lots of ice and sparking club soda making it dangerously easy to drink. Gin is one of the few spirits that I enjoy drinking. Easy and quick to make this cocktail is sure to delight your guests. The hint of salt brings out the sweetness of the grapefruit and pear and the floral notes of the Hendrick’s gin. This refreshing, sparkling gin cocktail, with hints of grapefruit, is the perfect New Year’s Eve drink to celebrate the coming year with friends and family. To chase away any remaining bitterness, we added a pinch of salt. We finished the drink by adding in a splash of Cointreau, which brings sweetness and a bright splash of orange flavor. In this case we added in a bit of simple syrup to bring the Pink Pear into balance. Pear nectar can sometimes be a little tart, and with the drink having a quite a bit of tartness from the grapefruit, we needed a little bit of sweetness. Pear nectar is a perfect way to add body to a drink, its thick texture a perfect way to add flavor. With fresh squeezed ruby red grapefruit and gin as our starting point, we wanted something that would make the drink smooth and creamy. It seems the combination of the two starring in many cocktails like our Red Hound or the French Tart. We are big fans of the way that a good gin works with grapefruit. We love using fruits that are in season, and with a bounty of beautiful ruby red grapefruit and late fall pears on the shelves of our grocery stores, we knew we had a great starting flavor to work with. The Pink Pear is a wonderful winter sipper, combining fresh squeezed ruby red grapefruit juice, pear nectar, Cointreau and Hendrick’s Gin. We are pretty excited to join this group of boozy experts!
